Love or Energy Zappers?

“Mother Teresa said that we can do no great things, only small things with great love.  It is not how much we do, but how much love we put into the doing, and it is not how much we give, but how much love we put into giving.  To God, there’s nothing small.” Dr. Robert Maurer

A friend of mine had breast cancer a couple of years ago.  It has made a tremendous impact on her life.  She has a full time job and is the mother of 3 young children.  Her past challenge with cancer is a constant reminder of how precious the present moment is.   It is a reminder to be really present with her children when they ask her to play a game

….to put love into the doing and the giving instead of  feeling guilty about not tending to her do to list.  After all, what better way to give and do than to do it in the present with lots of love.  It’s not possible to feel love and guilt at the same time.  How many times do we do and give just because of quilt, because of shoulds, worries, etc.?  These are energy zappers, and others (especially our children) can feel it.  It is not truly giving, and it may not be well received.

These and other energy zappers keep us from being who we really are.

What can we do or give to someone (or even ourselves) and put pure love instead of an energy zapper into it?

Cheers to YOU!
JoAnne
